About Texas A&M

With over 70,000 students and a 5200+ acre campus, Texas A&M is one of the largest universities in the country and one of six Senior Military Colleges in the U.S. Often called TAMU, “Aggieland,” or simply A&M, the public research university is known for its agricultural and engineering programs (which ranked in the top 10 engineering schools), military-friendly environment, D1 sports, and large and loyal alumni network.”

A typical TAMU student is religious, conservative, and proud to be an Aggie. However it’s impossible to make generalizations about all students at such a huge school. As one CC Community member notes, “I get the culture is overall “conservative” relative to university-dom as a whole. That said, due to the massive size of the student body, just about anyone can find their tribe of like-minded students and feel at home.”

TAMU prides itself in supporting military students and veterans. The popular Corps of Cadets program thoroughly prepares students for military careers.

Fun Fact About Texas A&M

On the Friday night before each home football game, around 25,000 TAMU students gather at Kyle Field for the Midnight Yell, for the largest pep rally in the country. Aggies get pumped up for the big game by listening to the famous Fightin' Texas Aggie Band, firing cannons, cheering and–yes–yelling. The rally ends after the stadium lights go out for a few seconds and provide a chance for a "midnight kiss," which is said to bring good luck.
