Senior Military Colleges (SMCs) combine the rigorous military discipline of a service academy with a traditional college education. While not all students are required to participate in the military programs at all of these institutions, these colleges maintain military systems and many students do choose to participate in the full-time, four-year Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). Many graduates of the ROTC programs at SMCs opt for careers in the military after college.
